About seed paper
Basic information about the material, seeds, planting, and storage.
What is seed paper?
Seed paper is plantable paper containing seeds within the paper fibres. It can be used like conventional paper for items such as cards, tags, invitations, inserts, and promotional materials, and can later be planted in soil under suitable growing conditions.
How does seed paper work?
When the paper is planted and kept moist, the fibres begin to soften and break down. This allows water to reach the embedded seeds. If the seed variety and growing conditions are suitable, the seeds may germinate and develop into seedlings.
What seeds are available?
Seed options depend on the paper specification, project, intended planting location, and availability. Different varieties may be appropriate for different climates and applications. Contact us if your project requires a particular type of flower, herb, or other seed.
Is germination guaranteed?
No. Germination is a biological process and can be affected by seed variety, age, storage, soil, water, temperature, light, planting depth, climate, and other environmental conditions. Seed paper should therefore be treated as plantable material rather than as a guaranteed germination product.
How should seed paper be planted?
Place the paper on moist soil, cover it lightly with a thin layer of soil, and water gently. Keep the soil moist during the early germination stage and provide suitable light and temperature for the specific seed variety. Large pieces can usually be torn into smaller sections before planting.
How should unused seed paper be stored?
Keep seed paper in a cool, dry place away from excessive moisture, heat, and prolonged direct sunlight. Because the material contains living seeds, long-term storage conditions can influence future germination performance.
Printing & customization
Questions about artwork, size, shape, printing, and custom products.
Can seed paper be printed?
Yes. Seed paper can be printed with logos, text, illustrations, QR codes, planting instructions, event information, and other artwork. Because the surface is naturally more textured than conventional coated paper, print results may differ depending on the paper and artwork.
Can I add my own logo or artwork?
Yes. Custom branding and artwork can be applied to many seed paper products. For custom production, we recommend providing the final artwork or design requirements so that the print area, colours, size, and finishing requirements can be reviewed before production.
Can you make custom sizes and shapes?
Many projects can be produced in custom sizes and shapes. Depending on the design, seed paper may be cut, die-cut, folded, punched, or converted into cards, tags, inserts, invitations, and other formats. Feasibility depends on the final specification.
Can I choose the paper thickness and seed variety?
Available combinations depend on the product and production requirements. If thickness, seed type, texture, colour, or another material characteristic is important to your project, include it when requesting a quotation or sample.
What artwork files should I provide?
Vector artwork is generally preferable for logos, typography, and production-ready graphics. For projects containing images, high-resolution files are recommended. Exact file requirements may vary by print method, so artwork can be reviewed before final production.
Can you help if I only have an idea and no finished artwork?
Yes. You can send us the intended product, dimensions, quantity, message, branding requirements, and any references you already have. We can then determine what production information is still needed before the project moves forward.
Samples & ordering
What to know before placing a custom or production order.
Can I order samples before placing a larger order?
Sample availability depends on the product and project. For custom work, a sample or production proof may be useful when paper texture, print result, size, colour, seed type, or finishing is important. Contact us with your requirements and we can advise what sample options are available.
What is the minimum order quantity?
Minimum order quantities vary by product, specification, printing method, and level of customization. Standard products and fully customized manufacturing may have different minimum quantities. Send us the product and quantity you need for an accurate answer.
How long does custom production take?
Production time depends on quantity, artwork, material specification, printing, finishing, and current production capacity. Custom orders should therefore be confirmed individually rather than relying on a single standard lead time.
How do I request a quotation?
Send us as much information as possible, including the product type, finished size, quantity, seed preference, printing requirements, artwork, finishing, delivery country, and target date. More complete project information allows us to evaluate the job more accurately.
Can I place a repeat order using a previous design?
In many cases, yes. If the previous specification and production files are still suitable, repeat production may be possible. Material availability, seed availability, pricing, and other production conditions should still be reconfirmed before a new production run.
Shipping & international orders
Information for projects being delivered across different countries and regions.
Do you ship internationally?
International shipping options depend on the destination, product, quantity, and order requirements. Shipping availability and cost should be confirmed for the specific destination before the order is finalized.
Can seed paper be shipped to every country?
Not necessarily. Because seed paper contains seeds, some countries and regions may apply agricultural, plant health, customs, or import restrictions. Requirements can vary by destination and seed variety, so international projects should be checked before production and shipment.
Who is responsible for customs duties and import taxes?
Customs duties, taxes, documentation requirements, and import procedures depend on the destination and shipping arrangement. The applicable terms for a specific order should be confirmed before shipment.
Can you help choose seed paper for an international campaign?
Yes. If the same project will be distributed across several countries, tell us the intended destinations at the beginning of the project. Seed variety, material specification, packaging, and shipping requirements may need to be considered differently from a domestic project.
Still have a question?
Every seed paper project is slightly different. Send us your product idea, quantity, artwork, destination, or production requirements and we can help determine the next step.
